In Progress is a room where unfinished work is shared out loud. That only works if the room is safe and the work is honest.
Pending counsel review
This page is draft copy for internal review. Do not rely on it for legal compliance until counsel approves the final text.
The short version
Only upload music you have the rights to use. Treat collaborators and listeners with respect. Don't spam, don't impersonate, don't abuse. Credit follows the work — don't claim what isn't yours.
Rights come first
Every audio upload requires you to confirm you have the rights to use it in the Session. That acknowledgement is stored on our servers when your file uploads. Uploads are also checked against a music recognition service; if your file matches a commercially released recording, you'll be asked to confirm your rights, and a public Session may be made private until you do.
Reporting content
Anyone can report a Session, a profile, or a comment. On a Session, use the Report button in the action bar; on a profile or comment, use the ⋯ menu. Reports use these reasons:
- Spam — Junk content, fake engagement, or misleading links.
- Harassment or abuse — Targeting people with abuse, threats, or hate.
- Copyright concern — Music or media uploaded without the rights to use it.
- Impersonation — Pretending to be another artist or person.
- Something else — Anything that doesn't fit the above.
Formal copyright notices have their own intake on the Copyright & DMCA page.
What happens after a report
Every report opens a moderation case that a human reviews. Automated fingerprint scans never delete anything on their own. Depending on the outcome, a Session can be:
- Left active — the report didn't hold up, or the issue was resolved.
- Limited — removed from public discovery and playback while concerns stand.
- Removed — taken down for violations or in response to a valid copyright notice.
Sessions with open moderation cases or missing rights acknowledgements can't be published as final releases until the issues are resolved.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material lose access. We track copyright notices and moderation outcomes per account, and restrict or terminate accounts with a pattern of infringement.
Appeals
If you believe an action against your content was a mistake, write to michael@inprogress.music with a link to the Session and what you'd like reviewed. For content removed after a copyright notice, see counter-notification on the Copyright & DMCA page.
