LearnWorking in a Session
Publishing
From contribution to official cut — attempts, ideas, the artist Draft, and the Publish button.
Publishing on In Progress means turning work into a new official cut. There are two sides: contributors send ideas, and the artist decides what becomes official.
As a contributor
- Start a contribution — Contribute to this Session from the Song tab, or Contribute here on a comment to begin at that timestamp. This creates your private Attempt; nobody sees it until you send it.
- Make your changes in the arrangement editor: record or upload audio, move and trim clips, edit lyrics or structure.
- Send to artist when you're happy. Your submission is frozen exactly as sent and lands in the artist's Contributions tab.
As the artist
- Review submissions on the Contributions tab — a badge shows how many are waiting.
- Pull what belongs into your working Draft — a whole idea or just a region of it. The Draft banner shows Working draft · Based on Official vN, with a toggle to A/B the Draft against the Official and a Back to Official exit.
- Click Publish (in the Session header) to turn the Draft into the next official cut. Work that survives into the Official determines credits.
Publishing vs. releasing
Publishing creates a new official version and can happen as many times as the song needs. Releasing — the outline Release button next to the Session title — is the one-way door that marks the record final. See Selling music.
