Branching

Carry a song in a new direction — a new Session that starts from an existing cut.

Sometimes a song wants to be two songs — an acoustic version, a remix, a different chorus that deserves its own life. Branching creates a new Session that starts from an existing moment of this one.

How it works

  1. On your Session, click Branch in the action bar (artists see Share · Branch · Settings).
  2. Choose the starting point: one official cut, or one submitted idea.
  3. The branch becomes a new Session with its own Official v1 — the arrangement is recreated and the audio carries over, so nothing is re-uploaded.

After the branch

The two Sessions diverge from that moment — work in one never touches the other, but the lineage is recorded. Branching is how a song keeps growing after a final release freezes the original.

Only the Session's artist can branch it.
